Huepar laser levels for your next project
When you’re planning your next home improvement project, whether it’s adding an addition to your house or remodeling the kitchen, you want to get it done right the first time and on budget. Hiring a contractor can be expensive, especially if it takes more than one attempt to get the job done right or if they don’t finish on time due to unforeseen circumstances. Before you contact a contractor, though, think about using a laser level to make sure you get all of your measurements right from the start.
What is laser
level?
A laser level is a tool used to create
accurate, level lines when doing construction or engineering work. Laser levels
are often carried by surveyors in their day-to-day work, but they can also be
used in home or other smaller construction projects. The precision of a laser
level makes it useful in many situations, including when you need to draw
straight lines across ceilings and walls without resorting to hammers or
measuring tape. With lasers levels, you'll never have to worry about starting
over again because of inaccurate measurements. Here are three things you should
know about using a laser level What Is A Professional Building Level? - Before
choosing a laser level, one important consideration is whether or not you want
one designed for professionals or if something simpler will do. Professionals
usually prefer professional-grade tools since they're built sturdier and more
precisely than amateur models. This difference may be noticeable if you're
using your laser level professionally -- it might last longer, require less
repairs, provide more precise readings -- but that's probably not an issue if
you're just working on do-it-yourself home improvements projects. Homeowners
will find that DIY models are generally adequate for most tasks around the
house so long as they aren't too delicate or involved. If you've ever had to
redo work or rework parts of your home based on bad measurement, then investing
in a good laser level could save you time and money. And if you plan on taking
up any sort of contracting/construction gig once out of college (perhaps with
no prior experience), then getting training with professional grade equipment
will definitely help prepare you for what you'll need later. All About The
Levels : Choosing Between Horizontal & Vertical Levels - One critical
factor in deciding which type of laser level to buy is how much accuracy (and
therefore money) you want out of it. In most cases, vertical levels are cheaper
than horizontal ones which means most people use them.
When to use
laser level?
Laser Levels are an effective solution to help
achieve precise levelling and alignment on virtually any flat surface,
particularly those with complex geometry. To answer your question on when you
should be using a laser level as opposed to a traditional spirit level, we've
put together a few examples below. For all of these examples, we assume that
some sort of guide rail will be used as part of the overall installation
process. Once guide rails have been set and poured into place, you can usually
mark-up and create more precise marks than you could ever do by hand on bare
concrete or masonry walls. Read through each example carefully to better
understand how they apply to your own projects:
1) When mounting cabinetry, counters,
etc... onto a solid foundation without using guide rails/spacers from
wall-to-wall or floor-to-ceiling: The easy way is often considered the best
way! In most cases in residential applications where cabinet installs don't
require a specific spacing pattern between components, in addition to wall
cabinets being simply nailed in place one at a time via their included
hardware. The downside is that there's nothing keeping them from moving around
over time or shifting if someone bumps into them accidentally after initial
install. An alternative would be to use a stud finder and then determine
precisely where each nail will go before actually drilling holes by finding centre
points of each stud using a plumb bob from above. Either way it's still just
too much guesswork and not something you want to have happen on site with final
build out happening soon. A more appropriate solution here would be to get
accurate level lines printed directly onto concrete surfaces via our F7050
large format industrial printer. Once printed, these level lines can easily
withstand any movement caused by normal activities within a kitchen or bathroom
suite for years into the future—no additional work required beyond what you'd
normally do before nailing things into place. Sure, it may cost an extra $10-15
per line printed initially but in many instances it's worth every penny to
ensure everything looks perfect long after installation is complete.
2)
When setting tile flooring on uneven concrete/poured concrete: There are a
number of ways to tackle laying tile flooring on an uneven surface such as
poured concrete. Some people rely on making chalk lines and then cutting tiles
to fit these lines. This can be very time consuming and require multiple passes
with a wet saw. Alternatively, you could use mortaring thinset with spacers
between individual tiles to achieve perfect spacing and level lines. Even using
half-inch thick spacers though is not enough in many cases and thin set with
spacers will leave ridges or grooves in your finished floor—something you might
not notice initially but which could cause future issues down the road.
A
better solution would be to pre-install guide rails on your pour at regular
intervals and then simply use a self-leveling floor system such as FLOORLITE II
plus an adhesive like our DURACOAT Urethane Adhesive. It's not only fast but
also far more durable than mortaring thinset with spacers or chalking lines.
